Florida sales associate qualifications
An applicant must be at least 18 and hold a high school diploma or equivalent. Florida investigates honesty, truthfulness, trustworthiness, good character, and fair dealing. Broker experience requirements are distinct from entry requirements for a sales associate.
Application and education
Apply to DBPR on its prescribed form, provide the required Social Security number and fingerprints, and disclose reportable criminal matters, business aliases, professional discipline, and real estate license denials. Reportable pleas matter regardless of adjudication. Supplement a pending application when a material change might affect the decision.
Course I consists of 63 hours of 50 minutes each, including examination. Satisfactory course completion requires at least 70% on the end-of-course examination; the school may administer it after instruction if classroom absences do not exceed eight hours. Course completion and the state examination are separate requirements, and neither alone confers a license.
An accredited four-year or higher degree in real estate exempts its holder from the initial education course requirements and statutory postlicensure education requirements, not from licensure generally.
Issuance and the first renewal
The license uses the associate's legal name. Specified authorized entity forms are permitted, but do not authorize the associate to register as a brokerage firm's officer or other listed operator under section 475.15.
A sales associate required to complete postlicensure education who fails to do so before the first renewal has a null and void license and must requalify through the sales associate prelicensure course and state examination.
